01 · Shape

One is a desktop product with a phone; this is a phone product with a dashboard

Vyapar grew up on Windows, and its desktop edition is where most of it lives — the mobile app is the companion. BillCountr is the other way round: the Android app is the whole product, and the web dashboard exists for the owner who wants a bigger screen for reports and staff. Neither shape is wrong. It matters because whichever one you pick decides where your shop's day actually happens.

02 · Offline

Offline-capable and offline-first are not the same promise

Both products keep working without a connection. The difference is the default. In BillCountr every bill is written to the phone first and sent afterwards, so there is no path through the code where a customer waits on a network call — and the invoice number is assigned on the device too, which is the part that usually breaks. A system that numbers bills on the server has to either renumber them later or leave gaps, and a gap in a GST series is exactly what gets questioned.

03 · Udhaar

Credit that points at a bill, not a running balance

Most billing products, this one's competitors included, track what a customer owes as one number. That answers how much but not which purchases, so a disputed balance comes down to whose memory is better. Here a payment is allocated to the specific invoices it clears, and a part-paid bill keeps showing what is left on it. Each customer can also carry one date you expect to be paid by, so reminders arrive when you agreed rather than the day after a sale.

04 · Staff

Staff accounts are not held behind the top tier

Vyapar's free mobile tier and its entry paid edition are single-user; multi-user arrives on its higher plan. BillCountr's free plan is also one person, but staff accounts start on the first paid plan rather than the last, and roles are real permissions rather than separate logins — a cashier can bill without seeing purchase cost, margins or reports.

05 · Scope

What is deliberately missing here

BillCountr is a retail operating system, not an accounting suite. There are no ledgers, no balance sheet, no e-way bills, no e-invoice IRN generation, and no weighing-scale or cash-drawer hardware integration. Vyapar has several of those. If you need them, that is a real reason to choose it, and no amount of anything else on this page changes that.
