Billing for a shop where one item costs more than a day's kirana.

What you need to know

What an electronics counter needs.

01 · Value

The bill matters more when the item is expensive

A kirana bill is a receipt nobody keeps. A phone bill comes back — for a warranty claim, for an exchange, for an insurance form — and it has to still say what it said on the day. A finalized bill here keeps the settings it was calculated with and cannot be edited afterwards, so the copy a customer brings back in a year matches the copy in your records exactly.

  • Finalized bills are never edited
  • Reprint the original from its stored snapshot
  • Cancelled bills print with a watermark
  • Returns issued as credit notes with their own number

02 · Serials

Where an IMEI or serial number goes

There is no separate serial-number field, and rather than pretend otherwise: shops put the IMEI or serial into the item name or the bill note when they sell, which prints on the invoice and is searchable afterwards. If you need serialised stock tracked as its own record, with each unit followed through the shop, that is not built and you should look elsewhere.

  • IMEI or serial typed onto the line or the note
  • Prints on the invoice the customer keeps
  • Searchable in the bill history afterwards
  • No per-unit serialised stock tracking

03 · Tax

Eighteen percent, without setting it up

Choosing electronics sets GST on with eighteen percent as the default rate, which is where most of this trade sits, and the HSN picker offers phone, computer, appliance, cable, battery and lighting codes rather than the general list. Anything on a different rate is changed per item, and the bill splits tax into CGST and SGST inside your state or IGST outside it.

  • GST on, 18 percent, from the first bill
  • Per-item rate where a product differs
  • Phone, appliance, cable and LED HSN codes offered
  • CGST and SGST, or IGST across a state line

04 · Stock

Knowing which model is left, not how many boxes

Barcode scanning is on by default, so packaged stock comes up from the camera instead of a search. Each model carries purchase cost, selling price and MRP separately, so the bill shows the customer's price while the report shows what the item made — and a price typed below cost raises a warning before the bill is saved rather than at the end of the month.

  • Scan with the camera while billing
  • Purchase cost, selling price and MRP held apart
  • A warning when a price goes below cost
  • Low-stock level set per model

Common questions

Questions from mobile and electronics shops.

Can I track IMEI numbers?

Not as a tracked field. You can type the IMEI onto the bill line or the note, where it prints on the invoice and stays searchable, and most shops do exactly that. Serialised per-unit stock tracking — following each handset through the shop as its own record — is not built.

Does it handle warranty and service records?

Not as a separate module. The bill is the warranty document and can be reprinted from its stored snapshot at any time. There is no service-job or repair-ticket workflow.

Can I bill an exchange where the customer returns an old phone?

You can record a discount or an additional line on the bill for the exchange value. There is no trade-in valuation flow, and the returned handset does not automatically enter stock as second-hand inventory.

What GST rate is set by default?

Eighteen percent, with GST switched on, because that is where most of this trade sits. Any item can carry its own rate, and the picker offers nil, 5, 18 and 40 percent.

Does it work without internet?

Yes, including the invoice number. Bills, stock, credit and printing all run from the phone and sync when the connection returns.
